Abstract/Purpose

DOMS was created to provide access to DOGGR maps via the Internet, similar to Online Production/Injection (OPI) and Online Well Record Search (OWRS), which provide access to production data and scanned well records. DOMS also provides general well data and direct access to OPI, OWRS, and detailed Online Geothermal Well Data Query, all from one web application.

Background

DOMS was originally created using a JavaScript API interface. This first version, although functional, did not meet all the desired functions as well as the look and feel that DOGGR envisioned. Once the first version was complete, it was obvious something better had to be built to fill DOGGR's need. The Flex API by ESRI was used in the creation of DOMS 2.0. The Flex API allowed DOMS to provide all the functionality and the look and feel desired by DOGGR.

Access to DOMS is from DOGGR's main web page.

Map Layer
Map Layer Menu Image
Map Layer button opens the Map Layer Menu.
On the Map Layer Menu, select/deselect map layer(s) to be displayed on the map. Options for well layer and street layer are available at levels where wells and the street layer are visible. By default, selected wells are labeled with the last three digits of API Numbers, which are numbers that uniquely identify all wells in DOGGR's well database, and users now have the option to label selected wells with either last three digits of API Numbers or Well Numbers.
See Layer Dictionary for layer information.

Note: The street layer is provided by DOC's spatial server to replace ESRI Street Map. This layer replaces ESRI Street Map at level 11; this layer is not visible otherwise. This option is only enabled at level 11. See the Road Legend to better understand the street symbology at this level.
Well Option
Well Option Popup Window Image
Well Option button opens the Well Option Menu.
On the Well Option Menu, select/deselect by well type and/or well status to make wells visible/invisible on the map.
By default, all wells are checked and displayed on the map.
A well type or a well status can be clicked on to select/deselect an entire row or column.
Click on Well to select/deselect the entire grid of options.
In addition, a tip appears when the mouse pointer hovers over a Well Type.
(See Appendix II for well type information.)

Load Wells
Load Wells button image

Load wells button adds all wells within the current map extent to the Well List and keeps those wells selected. The button will not remove wells that are already in the Well List. If the map is moved, extent change, this button must be clicked on again to get all the wells in the new extent. If there are more than 500 wells within the current map extent, the application will reduce the size of the extent and query again. The process will be repeated until the number of wells found is less than 500 or the map extent is 5% of its original size. Then, the application prompts the users to decide whether they want to zoom in to the reduced map extent or remain at the current map level.

Note: The button is only active at map levels where wells are visible - levels 8, 9, 10, and 11.

Print the map and well list (if wells are selected in the well list) up to 50 wells, and .
To learn more about printing, check How to Print section.

Basemap Switch

Basemap Switch allows users to select a basemap type (Streets, Topo, or Imagery). To learn detailed information about these three basemaps, visit the DOMS Layer Dictionary.

Note: Because the topographic map is not available at levels 10 and 11, the Topo Button is disabled at these levels as shown below, and the basemap will switch to street map automatically if Topo is selected before going to levels 10 or 11.

Select All - Select all wells in the list.

Note: Single click to select a well and to display its popup infowindow. If the well is outside the map area, the browser will automatically center the well in the Map Area. Also, if the well is not visible at the given map level, it will automatically zoom to map level 8 where wells become visible. In addition, Ctrl/Shift + Click can be used to selected multiple wells.

3. Overview Map

Built-in Search Options

Option 1: Search a Well by the API number
Find a Well by API Number Diagram
  1. Click Find Tab Find Tab Icon
  2. Select Well API Number
  3. Key in a well's API Number in input box
  4. Hit Enter key or click Find
Note: An API Number is an 8-digit number that uniquely identifies each well, in other words, a well ID number.
Option 2: Search Wells by Public Land Survey System (PLSS)
Find Section Township Range Diagram
  1. Click Find Tab Find Tab Icon
  2. Select Public Land Survey System
  3. Input the Principle Meridian, Township, Range, and Section
  4. Click Find
Note: The application will automatically add all wells to the Well List.
Option 3: Search a Point by Latitude and Longitude
Find a Well by API Number Diagram
  1. Click Find Tab Find Tab Icon
  2. Select A Point by Lat, Long (NAD83)
  3. Key in both Latitude and Longitude in input boxes
  4. Hit Enter key or click Find
Note: The ranges of both Latitude and Longitude are limited to the extent of California.
(That is roughly, 32.0 < Latitude < 40.5 and -126.0 < Longitude < -112.5).
Also, the negative and positive signs are not needed when entering either latitude and longitude. DOMS assumes signs appropriate to California.

Manual Search

Navigate the map to a location in California; be sure the map is at level 8 or higher* on the Zoom Slider so wells can be visible.
When you find the well(s): OR * Level 11 is at the top of the Zoom Slider. See Appendix I for more information on the level of the Zoom Slider and the scale it represents.
